Welcome to the official
international Web site of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. This Web site opens
the door to our wonderful world of Scholarship, Service, Sisterly Love and
Finer Womanhood. This Web site will always be a "work in progress",
just as this sorority will continue to reexamine itself to ensure that
we remain a viable organization to those we serve in our communities now
and into future.
As you make your way through these pages, you will find an organization
that is as rich in history as it is in service. Since 1920, our national
service programs have evolved to meet the critical societal needs of the
time. This administration has identified some key areas of concern. The
projects and needs have been consolidated under the banner of Z-HOPE,
which stands for Zetas Helping Other People Excel.
One significant area of concentration under the Z-HOPE program
is healthcare. Healthcare is a major concern for all Americans and globally,
but it is of paramount importance for women of color. As African-American
women, we are more susceptible to mental and physical health problems.
We die at a higher rate from cancer and stroke. Obesity, diabetes, breast
cancer, and now HIV/AIDS also affect us disproportionately than others in
society. Additionally, medical experts say Black women suffer clinical
depression at about twice the rate of men.
Education is another major focus of the Z-HOPE program. Because
we have so much to pay back in the areas of education, and in keeping
with the national campaign to Leave No Child Behind, we too want
to do our part to help ensure every child a healthy and a fair start in
life. Zeta continues to take a deliberate and in-depth look at ways to
keep any child from being left behind academically.
I hope you will find your visit to this Web site to be stimulating, thought
provoking and exciting. I hope you will also take the time to provide
feedback on what we can do to continuously improve this valuable information
tool and the programs of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
