Hurricane Katrina Update - How You Can
Help
The tragedy of Hurricane Katrina has impacted the lives of hundreds of thousands
of people in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi. My thoughts and
prayers extend to all those now coping with the aftermath.
As we seek word about our dear loved ones, Sorors, brothers and friends, I
ask that you contact our Sorority Headquarters at 800-368-5772 to provide updates
on the fate of our Zeta sisters and their families in the affected communities.
We will provide updates and appeals via "Alerts" as appropriate.
These “Alerts” will be transmitted via email so all chapters are encouraged
to register their chapter email addresses on the Sorority list serve at www.zetaphibetasororityhq.org.
You can also visit the official web site at www.zphib1920.org and share words
of encouragement and support via our Family E-Reunion message board.
The American Red Cross (ARC) has launched the largest emergency response mobilization
for a single natural disaster in its history. As an ARC partner agency, I am
encouraging all members of the Zeta family to search your heart and provide
any assistance you can by donating to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief
Fund. The Sorority web site includes a link to the American Red Cross web site.
Donations made via the Sorority’s web site link will be credited to the Sorority,
allowing us to have a record of our members’ support of this humanitarian effort.
You may also contact them at 1-800-HELP-NOW. Be sure to mention Zeta Phi Beta
Sorority.
During this long road to recovery, the Sorority will continue to support the
relief and recovery efforts of our various partner agencies, such as the National
Urban League, NAACP and others. Your support of our national collaborative
effort with the March of Dimes, Project Stork’s Nest Delivery, is also encouraged.
We are also reaching out to meet the needs of our Sorors and Amicae from the
impacted communities. The Southern and South Central
Regions have launched efforts to raise funds to assist our family in need.

It is during these times that we must draw closer to our faith, our families
and our friends. We must also remember to “Be a Friend to Man.”
Sisterly,
Barbara C. Moore
